This is a great, old-fashioned pie cookbook. There are hundreds of recipes for all kinds of pies. There are a lot of *chiffon* pie recipes, but even if the thought of those makes you uncomfortable, there are plenty of other recipes in the cookbook, as well. There are literally pages of rhubarb pie recipes (for instance), as well as multiple green tomato pie recipes, etc.If you like pie, this is a cookbook to seek out.

I ordered this book after the editors of Bake magazine recommended it and was so glad I did. Good, basic pie information with a lot of old fashion recipes. Step by step instructions and explanations of all techniques. Love this book and I'm working my way through the recipes. I'll look for a diet book next.

I have used this pie book since 1967. My original version finally fell apart so this was a replacement. I have made dozens of pies from this fabulous cookbook and not a one has been short of splendid! A great buy!

I was so happy to find this book, and it was accurately described by the seller. The Farm Journal series of cookbooks contains good solid information, nothing trendy or epicurean. You can always rely on a recipe found in the Farm Journal cookbooks, and that's as true in this one as others. It's a good review for me, especially for a variety of piecrust recipes, and for different artistic ways of working with the dough. It covers a very broad range of pies, from cherry to banana cream, chiffon pies to meat pies. I'm glad to be able to add it to my shelf of reference cookbooks.
I received this book as a shower gift in 1969. Over the years I looked for it to give others, but it was out of print. I was so happy when I discovered used copies on Amazon this year. I snatched up a couple of copies and wrapped them for gifts for my family members.The Farm Journal contributors knew how to make people pleasing pies. Still one of my two most favorite cook books. The other is the Home made bread book also available used.
