This Atlas is the perfect companion for studying the Bible. Dr. Beck walks through the Bible stories highlighting the best of commentaries and then enhances our understanding of the text with vivid explanations of the culture, meaning behind the Hebrew and Greek words and how the topography, geology and geography make the story come alive. If you are not able to walk through Israel with Dr. Beck, kinesthetically experiencing the land and how it impacts the story of the Bible, this Atlas is the next best thing to it. As a pastor, I've come to rely on Dr. Beck's perspective before I assume I've exegeted a passage correctly. His insights take the meaning of a passage much deeper and frankly bring more help to those who are receiving the message. The Discovery House Bible Atlas is an excellent book, with excellent photos and the text is straight forward and theologically sound. Learning about the Bible from a geographic standpoint gives me a new perspective on the Bible, helping me to understand the story in a new way. Both historical and spiritual in nature, God's land and God's story are put in real life perspective that has given me a deeper understanding of the Bible that even in the context of our modern world the ancient world comes to life with relevant clarity.
I love the way this atlas follows the books of the Bible and does a great job of explaining the geographical and cultural context. Makes a great companion for reading the Bible.
Wonderful Bible Atlas your home should never be without! The photography is stunning and the information is spot on and Biblical. Love Jack Beck's works. He is an amazing teacher.
Written by a fine biblical scholar who teaches biblical geography courses "on site" in Israel several times per year. If you want to know how geography helps interpret the Bible, this book will not disappoint!
A wonderful view of the Biblical lands and their archeological treasures. It was a much-appreciated gift to a young traveller.
I have all of the good Atlases (15-20), but this one is a little different. It is written with a common sense approach by a knowledgeable person. Very easy to use and as with most books, it has some different material. I highly recommend this atlas.
Perfect in every way. I love this book.
