CAVEAT EMPTOR is Latin for (choose one):a) I came, I saw, I conqueredb) You, too, Brutus?c) buyer bewared) The Emperor lives in a CaveC. The answer is C. But maybe the answer key says it's D but you KNOW it's C. That's what using this book is like.While this book can give you good insight into the types of questions presented on the SSAT and some strategies for approaching, I found, without having to go too deeply into the book four (yes, FOUR) errors. I really only used a VERY small portion of the book (the SSAT verbal drills and the first math portion of the SSAT practice test) before I found these errors. How many more are in there that I didn't find?1) Page 42, question 9. Barometer is to pressure as (A) odometer is to speed. Yes, you read that right. That was given as the correct answer. Odometers measure DISTANCE. Speedometers measure speed.2) Page 42, question 7. Trot is to gallop as (D) squall is to storm AND (E) breeze is to gale. Both are correct. The answer key says "Trot is a lesser form of gallop. A breeze is a lesser version of a gale." Guess what? A squall is a lesser version of a storm, too.3) Page 379 (at this point we skipped to the practice test), question 9 (what is it with question 9s?): "What is the value of the greatest of four consecutive integers is the greatest is three less than one-third of the least?" Huh? Replace "...integers is the greatest" with "...integers IF the greatest" and it makes sense. I, taking the test alongside my 13-year-old son, had to ponder this until I figured out it was just a typo. But a kid may not do that! They may think it's their fault they don't understand the question and freeze.4) Page 410, answer key to question 5. The correct answer is (E) 23, but this is how they explain the answer: As Z>3, 5Z+7 > 5(3)+7 or 22. Only choice (E) is greater than 27. Huh? Where'd the 27 come from? And the correct answer, (E) 23, is NOT greater than 27. That should have read "only choice E is greater than 22." Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.Now, you say that may not be a big deal. But you are an adult. What if you were a 13 year old kid? What early teen ager is not at least a wee bit insecure? What if you were nervous about taking the test? Wouldn't you be inclined to question your own judgment or knowledge? I mean, it's in a book and it's from the venerated PRINCETON REVIEW (hey, it even has an Ivy League name!), so it must be right, right?So, use this book if you must (I bought it b/c it had better reviews than most), but beware. It is FULL of misteaks. (Like that one.)
It is completely unacceptable for there to be errors in the answers. These questions are simple for any adult - someone at Princeton Review should be capable of working through the problems to check that the answers are correct. For example in Section 3 of the SSAT test, question 39 gives the answer as E, yet the explanation is for the answer to B. Question 47 is backwards. And Question 60 uses possible to probable, which is not one of the options.
This book seems too easy for Upper Level. Not much different from the Middle Level with few hard Upper Level questions. Should focus more on what't not in the middle level and more on Upper Level math and harder reading comprehension passages.
Love this book! It helped me a lot for test preparation.

Overall seems a good review but has several typoes (even in some of the math calculations in the answer section) and we have only used 25% of it so far.Wish it had the ability to easily pull out the answer pages as it appears they only contain the answers and explanations but you have to constantly turn the pages back to read the question as it is not repeated in the answer section.
Great book to practice for the test. It will be better if all the answers were at the end of the book not after each part
