I purchased this book on the launch date but couldn’t chisel out reading time until the next day. Once I began reading, I had a really hard time getting anything else done. I did tear myself away from time to time but finished it the next day.I was enthralled with Katie’s story . . .and it is definitely her story. Katie is a young woman in her mid-20s, recoiling from a bad relationship. She abruptly quits her job and returns to LA where she grew up. Jake, whom she has known since she was a young girl and who was her brother’s best friend, has opened his home to her until she gets settled with a new job and a place to stay. The book gives us glimpses of Katie’s childhood and we learn what prompted her to leave LA in the first place. After her return she reconnects with Jake whom she crushed on in her teens, rekindles her relationship with some of her childhood friends, and establishes friendships with some of Jake’s friends.I was drawn into Katie’s life and among other things, enjoyed accompanying her to some ritzy venues on her new job as a wedding photographer, and on her romantic surfing date with Jake in the early hours of the morning. Home to You has excitement and surprises. I enjoyed it for beginning to end. Read this book, you’ll enjoy it too.
Love, love, loved this book! The complexity of the characters and engaging nature of the story reminded me a lot of Colleen Hoover! The author really captured the feelings of what it is like to have a first, unrequited, love! Luckily for the reader, the ending is much happier than my own! ;)The characters were endearing, relatable and above all believable! Katie is the every-girl that we can all identify with. She is smart, talented and a little vulnerable. Jake is like the boys I crushed on in my youth...but better! The supporting characters are intriguing and the relationships that Katie has/develops with them ring true. The dialogue is well written and I found myself laughing out loud at moments! While this was a fun, light read, it was equally heartfelt as well. While some might like to know what is going on behind the scenes in Jakes head, I feel that Taylor showing us only Katie's thoughts truly brought me back to that uncertainty in an early romance! I wanted to discover the story with her. There is something about those butterflies!Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book (I practically binge read it in one sitting)! I am SO looking forward to reading more of her work!Thank you, Taylor Sullivan for writing a truly enjoyable story! I hope you write more!
Home to You is a breakout novel, first release by Taylor Sullivan. You will find that fact hard to believe. Touching, emotional, and real are a few words that are a feeble attempt to describe this lovely story. Love that blooms over years, heartbreak, tragedy, and real life events you will relate to traverse the pages of a pleasant read. The cover is a beautiful peek into a tale you will enjoy. Phrases will bring pause and you simply need to read again, and think. Very nicely done.Great first novel and I look forward to subsequent releases by Taylor Sullivan.
It’s a good book and I read it all in one day. However Katie did annoy me with all her running away, also how she kept being dishonest and denying her feelings. It was also obvious to me what Jake felt.I wish I could have read his POV. But still a good story I really enjoyed reading.
This is such a sweet second chance love story! Katie has been in love with her brother’s best friend since she was a kid, and now she’s all grown up and finds herself in a situation where she has to go live with him temporarily. This novel has all the feels! Katie and Jake have a very heart-breaking bond that they share, but there awesome sexual tension, humor, and great secondary characters (who I hope get their own books). I really loved reading this one!
I love this book. I have read it at least three times. The story is sweet, but full of substance. The characters are people I want to know. The story had enough drama without becoming overwrought. It's one of my go-to comfort books now.
I love Taylor Sullivan!!!! Where has she been my whole life?! I started with the Boy I Hate and three days later I finished reading all her books! I couldn’t put this one down! I loved loved loved it! I truly wish I could begin to explain how much I loved them. Anyway this book is amazing the love story is so cute and it’s just one of those books that helps you believe in love again! Haha am I exaggerating? I can’t wait to read more of her books I recommend all of them be careful because once you start there’s no putting them down!
This was a good book. Katie McGregor has always been in love with her brother's best friend, Jake. He was practically part of her family considering his family weren't loving and only expected certain things. She left 3 years ago after her brother died and she felt that Jake couldn't love her like she wanted. She has to start over when she finds out her boyfriend of 2 years has been cheating on her with lots of women. She moves back to LA and Jake welcomes her into his home.Katie is a great woman that has lost the people that meant everything to her. Her father died and then her brother died years later. Her mother was more interested in her new husband. And she thought Jake didn't love her like she needed him to and he pushed her away. She ended up in a relationship with a man that was very charismatic but didn't treat her properly. She feels like a failure and she returns home to LA and to Jake. She's trying to control her feelings and not let her feelings for Jake ruin things. She doesn't know if Jake has changed and if he's capable of a relationship.Jake has built his business up and done a wonderful job. He dates women for a short amount of time because his heart belongs to one woman and only that woman. He's carried guilt for what happened to his best friend for years and thinks it is his fault that he is dead. He's a wonderful man that cares about his friends and loved ones. He has money but money isn't what is important to him.Worth reading.
